In Gaza, each day brings new heartbreak. For families like Mohammad Sursour’s, survival itself has become a daily struggle amidst the relentless sounds of bombs, destroyed homes and unimaginable fear. Mohammad is a father, a husband, and a son with only one dream left: to secure safety for his wife, his four young children and his elderly parents. Today, Mohammad reaches out to you, not as a stranger but as a fellow human being, asking for the chance to escape the violence that has shattered their world.
A Father’s Courage in the Face of Catastrophe
“My name is Mohammad Sursour. I am a Palestinian from Gaza. I am reaching out to you with an urgent plea that comes straight from my heart.”
Mohammad’s life, like that of so many others in Gaza, has been upended by war. Until recently, he held hopes and dreams for a peaceful life for his family. But those dreams are now distant memories, buried beneath rubble and fear. Forced to flee their home under airstrikes, Mohammad and his family left behind everything they had built. With his wife recovering from childbirth and carrying their newborn baby, they walked over 12 kilometers, clinging to each other as they witnessed the horror around them – explosions, destruction, and the faces of terrified children.
“The pain my children have endured is beyond words. They are too young to understand war, but they feel the terror and they have seen the destruction. They wake up with nightmares, and we have nothing left – not even a safe place to rest.”
Now, they are in Rafah, near the southernmost border of Gaza, but even here, the constant bombing offers no reprieve. Their new “home” has also been attacked. Food, clean water and baby essentials like diapers are hard to come by and Mohammad’s children suffer from malnutrition, dehydration and illness. Every day is a battle just to keep them alive and comfort them, despite his own heartache and helplessness.
Donate now to make a real difference. Together, we can bring Mohammad’s family to safety and show them that love and compassion can overcome even the greatest of hardships.
